Welcome to Ralph & Julie's online photo albums.

Mt. McKinley (aka Denali) is located in the Denali National Park; six million acres of wilderness that is serviced by a single 90 mile long road. After mile 3 the road is gravel and private travel on the park road is severly limited. To gain access to the park most people ride one of many tour buses that traverse the road daily. We took the 7 hour bus ride almost all the way to the end of the road, and spent two nights at the Kantishna Road House located at mile 89. This gave us a full day inside the park, and remember with ~20 hours of daylight the days are *really* full! On the ride in we encountered a mother Grizzly with two second year cubs in tow along the road. We stopped and they just walked right on past our bus, not more than 10 feet away from us! The bus ride back out on the third day was only 5 hours, but we still managed to spot a large number of grizzly bears (although none quite as close as on the way in) and several other large inhabitants of the park.
