Welcome to Ralph & Julie's online photo albums.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012 We had an early morning outing to Punta Cormorant. We had a wet landing on a green sand beach, and headed to a peaceful white sand beach that is the main nesting grounds for the Pacific green sea turtles in Galapagos. On the way back, we stopped at a brackish water lagoon and saw a few Greater flamingos and some shore birds. The boat repositioned at Champion Islet, and we spent the morning in panga (Zodiac) rides around the Islet where we saw the rare and endangered Floreana (or Charles) mockingbird and many distracting young sea lions. We then snorkeled, swimming with sea lions, sea stars, and thousands of fish. In the afternoon, Ralph went with a group to the wet lava tube. Julie chose to take the panga ride around “La Loberia”, where she saw the first 2 Galapagos penguins, along with dozens of sea turtle heads popping up, birds and sea lions. In the afternoon, we all met up at Post Office Bay, where we mailed postcards without stamps, and took some that we could hand deliver. Later that afternoon, we took a kayak tour of the bay, where we saw more sea turtles and sea lions.
